And it's not a pretty sight!

Where are we, first part of August? And I was out of town first part of May, which means two and a half months of pretty regular riding. For a while, it was frightening -- pounds seemed to pile on, and I don't think I was eating differently, but then, sometimes my mind shuts down when it comes to food, so who knows.

But here's the thing: the fat's starting its slow exodus. It's noticeable, which is cool, but as I mentioned, it's NOT a pretty sight! No, there aren't globs popping out of my skin, leaping off my body and splatting onto the floor, or anything like that (but wouldn't that be cool? scare it into literally fleeing? gross, though!) Nope, nothing so exciting as that. Nope. I've got hollows. a nice big hollow on each side of my belly, divots in my thighs. Like it's being scooped away.

Sheesh! If the strange, lumpy distribution my old body has always been prone to wasn't icky looking enough before, well, y'know....

On the up side, while MY body fat isn't smart enough to just melt away in a nice, smooth, even type pattern that makes me look sleek, or svelte, or something, it's GOING!

And it's turning into an adventure to look at this middle aged body and see where the next handful will depart from! And THAT, ladies, is what it's all about!

Anyone else get funkier looking as the fat leaves the building? Or am I truly an oddball?

I've lost 100 pound and have managed to keep it off for five years.
Yes, I do have the scooped out look. I've also have several skin "flaps". It doesn't shrink and I was quoted $5000 to get rid of them. I'd like to get rid of them, but at that price, it's low priortity

Hmmmm, I lost 100 pounds several years ago (it took me a solid 2 years of religious dieting/exercise). I've kept about 60 of them off, as I was too thin and wanted to be a more realistic weight.

The biggest artifact of that, besides a few items of clothing that are wayyy too big now - is a bad case of stretch marks! Arms, thighs, hips - galore. My skin is otherwise *ha* mostly OK.

Why is it that weight is so easy to gain and so damn hard to come off. Then when it does, it leaves all these little snide reminders of it being there!

Way to go! I have managed to shed a lot of unwanted fat and weigth (70+ pounds) and I am now just working on continuing to build my lean muscle mass up. Nothing beats solid nutrition and diligence to exercise.

Wow ladies, I didn't think I could be inspired anymore, but you have managed to inspire me again to keep up the hard work and stay dedicated to this.

I need to lose about 80 and have been riding a couple of weeks now, so I haven't started seeing the weight loss yet, but I am looking forward to it.

    Way to go Kano!!!!

Fredwina -- sorry to hear you got hollows too, but it IS good to hear that I'm not the only one who loses fat by the handful instead of smooth shedding! (ooh, it just occurred to me, I sure hope I don't get "holes" in my boobies!)

Cassandra -- I'll have the stretch marks forever too. Developed the bulk of the danged things when I was pregnant with daughter number one 25 years ago! (told her it served her right when she got 'em with her first, too!)

Reminders -- yes, between the strange hollows, stretch marks, and leftover skin, I should be quite a sight naked some day! Perhaps I shall have all mirrors removed from anyplace I might see myself!

Thanks, Jennifer and DDH -- though, DDH, I have to warn you: I've probably lost a grand total of four pounds over this couple of months, and that's of the stuff I gained as I started this delightful hobby! Of course, it's from about five spots --- all those divots! Still, DDH, I FEEL so much better than I did at the beginning that if the numbers keep on moving this slowly, it will still be worth every pedal stroke, even the uphill ones!

Who says you can't have "localized weight loss?" -- not that I've had any sort of control over where it leaves from!

    Karen,
The twins left some serious stretch marks. At least now mine are flatter.

I bet they did! My dainty 7 pound daughter did severe damage to my belly skin -- the way she sprawled out once she could, and the way she thrashed around in there, she was certainly trying to make more room! (poor impatient soul is antsily awaiting boy number 2 right now -- full term in 100+ weather is no fun, even if it IS dry heat!)

So, this morning, I'm celebrating -- staying in the house, since daughter number 2 grabbed my cell phone this morning on her way out the door and I'm waiting for a call, but celebrating none-the-less: Another pound gone (that's five), and the cold that I came down with on Friday afternoon is finally starting to break up, so I can breathe today! I feel awake for the first time in days! Breathing is good! (throat's still sore, hills would be bad yet)

Stretch marks are to me, just a badge of honor. I might as well think positively about them, they are here to stay.

I would really like some dry heat about now. I have had enough humidity to last me a long, long time.

Hee hee -- I have too! I'm sure glad we have dry heat here! It's fun that the air is so dry that the heat index says it feels cooler than it is!!!
