OT: Bed Attire

Thanks for the laugh! Thread drift, indeed! I have to admit to reading the question when it was first posed and thought - Well, since I hardly ever make my bed... Then... the drift! I could respond to THAT! But I won't. I'll just giggle... and wonder - yet again - what in the world will happen to my *toys* if something were to happen to ME! Of course, I wouldn't be around to care, but my dear sweet daughter may have a coronary!

Back to the original question, however... I always love the look of the beautifully made beds in the magazines. Have even gone so far as to buy all that stuff - pillows and all. Had a heck of a time keeping the silk duvet cover from slipping onto the floor, and no place to put the clothes that need to be folded!

We produced culturally deprived children when it came to bed attire. Never had bedspreads or anything nonfunctional on the beds. When my daughter was 4 we stayed in a motel and there was a bedspread. She asked what it was and we said that it was a decoration. She was most concerned that we not sleep on the decoration.

We have our bed adorned with a combination of one to two out of 3 kitties.
There are never all three at the same time.
"making" the bed means that someone pulled the blanket up to the pillows.
My husband (who was in the military) really tried to train me to MAKE the bed
but it did'nt work. My sons are even worse. They don't like sheets.
Sometimes i wonder how THEY find their beds. but I am digressing.
i lost all of my beloved stuffed animals when my mother ran off to California when I was 12 and left it to friends to sell all our stuff.
Since then my husband has given me a small assortment of stuffed animals (mostly cats of course) to replace those lost so long ago. They are smart stuffed animals; and do NOT
sleep on the bed.

I'm surprised by the number of pets on the bed here. Of course cats are excused, they go wherever they want.

My mutt sleeps on the floor or is crated, she's crate trained and she has HER stuffed animals in there, usually her fave a squeeky heart-shaped toy, and/or her favorite pink bear.

It's the whole alpha-animal thing, I'm the alpha, therefore I get the bed, she has her own furniture throughout the house. When if/ever the bed gets shared at some point in future Mutt remains the "omega dog". spoiled Omega dog but bottom of the pack nonetheless.

She's only been on the bed a couple of times, both in thunderstorms, she was very scared and I allowed it.
