Well, I backslid a little today. I only went 9.5 miles. My legs just felt really weak or fatiqued or something this morning. Figured I wouldn't push, but at least get a decent ride in.
Hope everyone has a great ride and great day today.

    Rain

Tater: Yep Rain! It always seems to work this way when us southwesterners are getting rain or snow, you northwesterners are not!

We had a horrible horrible winter with absolutely no snow! and now we are getting our monsoons - thank goodness or we would just go up in smoke! Almost did earlier this year a few times!

Variety is not backsliding. Look at any scheduled training program (Hmmm... what, literally, *is* backsliding? Simply sliding backwards, or involving one's backside somehow?)

Rode out to work b/c I didn't take the 'puter home yesterday because the sky looked a lot like it had in the morning, and one bath a day is enough. Today is byootiful and in the 80's but the roads are being all torn up by very large orange things.

First day after the end of the heat wave!
After waiting out some early morning rain, my husband and I took advantage of this long-awaited cool morning, played hookie from work for 2 hours, and went off on our bikes down into town.

We had breakfast at our favorite cafe, then did a couple errands. We stopped at the car parts place to look at paint samples for DH's on-order bike. Then we went down my favorite little quickie country road ride and stopped at a property I call The Hatfields & McCoys'. Cows stand around in the muck swatting flies, amidst rusty wrecks of 1930s trucks and tractors, wooden carts from the 20's, metal of every description sticking up surrealistically out of the tall weeds, roosters crowing, cicadas buzzing. For some reason, I just like to stop there and absorb it all. It's like the ghosts of the old pickup trucks are talking.
Then we turned and went home, and I managed to pedal up Killer Hill to our house for the second time on my new bike- and it seemed a TINY bit easier than when I did it a few days ago! I don't *think* it was my imagination. My wonderful hiusband was waiting on his bike at the top, and when I arrived all panting and pedalling, he said "Way to go SWEETIE!"

Finally a break in the humidity. I went for a ride when I returned from the doctor. By the 7th mile I realized several things: having a fasting blood draw with tons of vials taken from me, no caffeine, and again, the whole fasting thing, did not make for any engery. I completely ran out of energy-the first time ever. My body did not want to cooperate with my brain.

I will go back out tonight. It is so nice to have the hmidity levels down.

We've been having May in august, with the coastal fog.
I was little slower today. I went up north again, and this time it got steeper a lot sooner!, Also, where I was goimd I couldn't do the stairstep routine. Got to see some nice house, and got lost, before screamin back down the hill

Today was simply a commute to and from work for I have too much to do this afternoon. So I got in a quick 2 miles there and 2 miles home. I hope my legs enjoys the rest.

    Ugh! (Sort of!)

Today was the first ride on the new setup of the old bike. After the LBS did the ultra-intensive fitting. Ugh. Well, kind of ugh.

I guess my body just doesn't adjust well to changes, or something, but by lowering my seat 2cm, I felt like I lost all my power on the hills. In truth, I was probably having to do weird things (like pushing down with my toes) to get full extension when the seat was high, and I just haven't changed my technique to work with the new seat height. But it was still frustrating, especially when DH was just wheelie-ing away from me.

And the wicked headwind didn't help (a steady 17 mph due north, and, of course, our longest, unprotected stretch is due south... ).

Okay, I'm done whining now. Really. Despite all of my personal issues, the ride itself was a good one. We got in 44.5 miles, 2601 ft. of ascent, with a 16.3 mph avg.

And, it was actually cool this morning (cool enough to wear leg warmers and arm warmers) - woohoo!!! That actually made the whole ride worthwhile! I know it won't last, but I'm going to enjoy the cool weather while it lasts!

And I'm sure that as I get more used to the bike setup, I'll find my power again. I'm just all into that instant gratification! And there's always tomorrow, right?

I rode 52 miles today. 40 miles were a repete of my normal 20 mile hill climbing route. I still get pretty tired climbing hills, but I get a little better every time. I am still so not ready for my first 4 day supported ride Labor Day weekend. Distances of 73, 69, 69 and 79 miles. Many of those miles have really big hills!
It was fun today watching my odometer turn over to 1,000 for this year so far.

Finally a break in the weather, and the A's not in town. Uneventful ride to and from work. Just nice weather.
