-A little embarrassing, but I want to know if you get a waxing "down there" will it make you too tender to ride? I was thinking about getting a waxing this week but I am doing a 60+ mile-ride in 2 weeks, anyone have any experience to tell me either way?
Thanks!

Hi cityrider,
Well, for me the waxing didn't cause any problems with riding. The thing is, the pain is gone withing minutes of the wax being pulled off and I found that by the time I was dressed and walking out of the beauty salon there was almost no redness. This is just me though, it will depend on your skin and how sensitive it is. If you have say a whole day between waxing and riding i wouldn't think there would be any problems. Good luck.
Thanks for the feedback ladies-
Happy riding everyone!
I've seen many a piece of advice on waxing that suggests the few days right before and after one's period is a bad time to wax. Extra sensitive to pain. So, maybe to avoid unecessary discomfort, schedule your salon visit accordingly.
I personally, have never had everything waxed off... so, I'd give yourself about 3 or 4 days after waxing before going on any long rides.

Hmmm, when the hair starts to grow back, are you in danger of getting an ingrown hair down there? Now THAT would be painful!

Not as likely to get ingrowns from waxing than shaving. Waxing means a whole new hair will grow, like normal, and come out with a tapered end. Shaving leaves a non-tapered, sharp end which has a harder time "finding its way out".Originally posted by Dogmama

Exfoliating can help avoid ingrowns whether you wax or shave. (If you wax, wait a few days before exfoliating.)

Well, thank you for some many responses!
This is a great forum, I can't wait to write about riding. Speaking of riding, I should report back that I did in fact wax and ride on the same day. In case anyone's wondering (sorry if its too much info) but I was not uncomfortable.
Yes, it's painful if you get an ingrown hair "down there" and THANKS to those who recommended exfoliating to help prevent just such an occurence. It really does help. Has the extra added benefit of softer skin whever one chooses to exfoliate, also!![]()
