It's a Nike ad with Lance that's inspirational... I can wax cynical and say "oh, what good marketers they are!" ... or I can be inspired. THink I'll be inspired :-)

(Had to laugh 'cause as soon as I hit "N" to type... I don't even know what... "nice advertisement" came up 'cause it's the last thing I typed beginning with N, even though that was a sarcastic reply to spam somewhere.)

That's great- I think I've seen it before on TV. Man, can you imagine being able to ride that fast, to corner like that? My favorite part is at the beginning when the geese are over him. And when all the people join up at the end.

That's wonderful. Thank you for posting it. I just watched it twice. I wish I'd seen it on TV, with the better quality picture. I love the part with the kids at the hospital window running to watch him go by. And the scenes in the city.

I imagined riding like that in the city--no worries about cars or pedestrians, just flying through my town. What a feeling of freedom.

And the little guy at the end with his football helmet on.

You know, I've always thought of Lance as having the ultimate, optimal aero position. I didn't know anyone else who could make their back do that. But now I'm reading 23 Days In July and have found out that actually his back is just humped unnaturally in not a good way and they had to make adjustments to accomodate that! Who would have known...

(Which I don't mean as criticism or anything- I still think he's super-hot.)

Thanks for posting that link! Marketing or not, there are some great visual metaphors there for what cycling is/can be: the inspiration for kids and for those with health issues; the stopped traffic in the city; the gathering crowds of cyclists. *sigh*

Very cool! I loved the little boy in the footbal helmet riding in the end behind Lance.

I love that he's wearing his USPS jersey.

As a non-cyclist, that was my favorite part of the Armstrong tenure at the top -- that the USPS (under a lot of criticism) decided to sponsor the team, and then ended up getting the kind of good press you can only dream about.

Of course my dad was a letter carrier and I have a soft spot for the USPS. And might I add that I've never had anything get lost by them, though lately every shipment I've gotten from UPS has been battered with the box falling apart!

Yea, I'm a total sucker for those growing-group-of-united-humans things. Heck, that scene in A Charlie Brown's Christmas when they sing Hark... I cry every time ...

The commercial is actually a few years old, so it was shot when he was still riding for the Posties. That said, I still get goosebumps when the buffalo start following him, and a tear when that little kid's wheel just barely catches Lance's.
