Hi all! I've been biking on and off for about 5 years now, but just found this forum last week. I'm thrilled to see so much support and knowledge being passed along!
A bit about me...
I live in Oregon...nice to see so many other PNW's here! Hubby and I started riding about 5 years ago on clunky low-end mountain bikes (nothing against mtb'ers, it's just that we were mainly doing road biking). Some friends of ours do couples bike trips every year, and one year they invited us along to the San Juan Islands in Washington. We had a lovely time, but boy was it hard pedaling up and down the hills on our heavy bikes.
The year after that I upgraded to a hybrid-comfort bike (Nomad GT) and hubby really got the cycling bug and got a recumbent trike (made by ICE in England). He's done the Seattle to Portland for 5 years now.
After this years STP I decided I wanted to start biking more. I got a decent road bike (Schwinn DBX Supersport...love it!) 2 weeks ago and I'm starting to put the miles on. My goal is to do at least the Seattle to Centralia portion of the STP for 2007, and to lose some weight. Ok...a LOT of weight! I must look like a sack of potatoes on my new sexy bike...LOL! BUT I'm riding. I did 21 miles Saturday, and 15 miles yesterday. Hopefully the heat here will stay managable!
Sorry for rambling...just excited to join in!
