I've been with several people that when they first try on Crocs, they don't like the "nubs" on the inside of the shoes. They try them on, and then decide they don't like them. These are people without the problems your mom suffers from. Those "nubs" might either make her feet hurt worse or maybe could help, but I don't know...

As far as stability, I feel stable in my Crocs. And they are also wide as Nanci said. If your mom has a narrow foot, that could be a problem, but I would ask an "orthopod" to see what they would say about any stability issues, etc.
