Trolling on a cycling group? Caligurl, I assure you, the thought never occurred to me.

My name is Mike, and I normally ride with the OC Rebel Riders - a perfectly nice, relaxed group that rides along Harvard, Walnut, and Tustin Ranch on a regular basis. I worked at the corner of Walnut and Myford for many years, and am very well acquainted with that particular area, including the original route and the alternate route that I suggested.

My concern was only for the safety of your group, and that's all. Crossing two lanes of toll road, two freeway onramps, and fighting with the traffic trying to get in and out of the Tustin Marketplace is a pain - following Walnut down to Tustin Ranch and taking Tustin Ranch up to Jamboree avoids all that.

Please, Brandy, don't give up. The route you have planned encompasses much of what makes riding in south Orange County so nice. I wasn't suggesting wholesale changes, and I wasn't suggesting that you take out anything important.

Since I'm so familiar with the area, and have cycled it so often, I made the suggestion. You're welcome to ignore it, but please, consider it for next time, or give it a try the next time you're riding solo.

you do realize this is a WOMEN"S board???????

perhaps a better way... since you registered.. would have been to PM her... PRIVATELY! especially if you read this thread.....

i'm WELL aware of OCRR (LOVE their new jerseys).... and everyone i know from that group IS bery nice... well.. except for richard.. cuz he INSISTS on badgering me to do doubles... but i digress in an attempt to lighten things up....

anyways... next time PM her (or others!)

    K?

    hmm wonder if this applies

In Internet terminology, a troll is someone who comes into an established community such as an online discussion forum, and posts inflammatory, rude, repetitive or offensive messages designed intentionally to annoy and antagonize the existing members or disrupt the flow of discussion, including the personal attack of calling others trolls.

icengineer, I'm just curious what brought you to TE and this thread in particular?

caligurl's right, I would have appreciated the suggestion in a PM...especially after the way that the planning of this ride has gone thus far. By the time that I had seen your suggestion, I was beyond accepting any more public commenting on the route.

Lets just appreciate all of the hard work that went into planning this route and enjoy it. I, for one, will happily (or not, depending on the hills ) ride wherever the directions show. I'm sure there are a million alternatives so the next person to put a ride together in the area can use some of those; but this looks like a great route for this Sunday.

Thank you Brandy and Tiffanie for painstakingly riding and driving the route to check it out; it looks like you've thought of all of the issues and chosen the best combination.

I am totally looking forward to it!

    Tracy

ps. Cali - Meeting at 8 (probably riding at 8:15-8:30)

Several people in the Rebels group mentioned TE. I looked, and happened to see the OC July 30th title.

Makes sense. Are any of them posters here? I thought we had all of our OC riders identified!

There's also a weather station at Fremont Canyon, north of Irvine Lake. The information gets updated hourly:

    http://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/queryFx?FMC

There's no forecast, but you can check the temps they measure there against the predictions.

Hi All! I haven't read this entire post... but tprevost emailed me to ask if I was coming... and unfortunately I won't be there... because I am finally having that cycling related issue taken care of surgically tomorrow! Seems dumb to be excited to be having surgery but it will be a relief. Outpatient and very minor but it will be SO great to ride without hurting again!

Anyway, I have to be off the bike for a week to a week and a half due to the stitches... hope you ladies have a great time... be safe, drink and eat plenty and gossip the whole way
There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness".
