I bought my 12 year old son a Specialized Allez last year because he really took to riding with my husband and I. We are planning to do the M.S. ride in June. I have nothing but GREAT things to say about riding with my son. We have spent hours out there on the road and have developed a wonderful relationship.
He is a great kid!! We currently have a "little deal" going...if he gets all A's on his report card all 4 quarters net year I am going to buy him the Look frame he has been drooling over.
