Bubba married a Bike Groupie
I have to admit it. I'm a groupie.
I spent the late afternoon and evening at the Nevada City Classic, considered by many to be the toughest crit in the US due to the climbing, turns, steep hills, poor and off camber pavement.

Anyway, I got to ride the chase motorcycle for the last laps of the men's cat 3! It pays to be friends with the driver. I found out that the chase cycle in a crit like this tracks the 2nd place rider so we were passing guys right and left to stay with him on this up, down, around, and waggling course. I think I left Chris (Chris Kelly, the bike builder) with bruises on the old love handles.
Oops! But it was a blast! I hope to goodness no one got photographs of me in my short skirt or saw my undies 'cuz they were admiring the serious biker tan thighs.
Note to self, next time you bat your eyes at the chase driver, be sure you have on pants.
Then, Scott Moninger of HealthNet won the pro race and lapped all but 4 riders. He was incredible! I saw him win the Cascade Classic in Bend last year so I had to trot over and get his autograph.
But maybe the best part? I got Ned Overend's autograph! I got to talk to the great Nedly. I told him I wanted to be like him when I grew up. The guy never stops. He's in his 50s and placed in the top 10. He's still seriously competing at the top domestic level.
I want to be like Ned. Ooh, I have groupie-itis bad.
