I'll be cycling off a short distance to get blood tests, etc. So much has changed..I used to cycle daily to work 16 km. with just a glass of milk or tea. This went on for the first 5-6 yrs. of returning to cycling --except for touring rides where I would chow down a bigger breakfast. Now I can't even imagine having nothing in my stomach before cycling off.
That's not a long distance...but my point is that over the cycling years, even during days when I don't bike, I need to have a little breakfast now.
