I'm really tired after a long day, so hopefully, this will make sense.
Today I took my 11-yr-old DS in for what we thought was going to be a consultation at the dentist. He ended up having three hours of oral surgery! This is a child who is terrified of anyone touching his mouth, but he pulled through it like a little soldier! I was really proud of him once again...
On Saturday, his Dad took him for a 15 mile bike ride. Apparently this was not enough for him, because on Sunday he asked me to take him for a 10 miler! So I did.
To start out, he realized his rear was pretty sore from the previous day. But he kept going. He took a descent at 24 mph! Toward the end of the ride, we had to climb back up the hill. I climbed it ahead of him, got to the top, stopped, and thought I would wait for him to walk up it. But to my surprise, there he was behind me, climbing up the hill! I was so proud! I have an upcoming cyclist on my hands.
So today I kept telling him that if he can take a descent and climb the hills the way he does, he can do anything, and to think about that instead of what was happening at the dentist. That seemed to work for him.
