Good Luck with your surgery! Riding before the surgery will help with your recovery. And riding afterward is one of the best things you can do. I often get my patients started on the stationary bike in the first week post-op. Even if it's just for 5 min rocking the pedals back and forth within your available range, it helps a lot. Another good trick that I've learned over the years is to have my clients sit on a therapy ball with both feet on the ground and roll back and forth such that the knee bends and straightens rhythmically. It seems to help loosen things up.

I had a client in her 60's that had a TKR and her recovery did not go as well as typical but even still she's back on her bike and rode RSVP this year, less than 1 year since the surgery!

I'll be thinking about you on Monday.
