Heal quickly, Chatnoire.
We were supposed to do a 35 mile ride with friends today, but woke up to an email saying they were at the ER
. It turned out to be a bad stomach thing, but after all that, no riding for them. So, we lolled around and watched the tour, ate lunch, and then went out for a 23.5 mile ride around Concord and Carlisle. We went on roads in the opposite direction than usual and on some of the roads I ride with my 13 y/o client. These roads are in horrible condition, some requiring almost mountain bike like maneuvers. Oh, did I mention there was a lot of climbing in this ride, too? We set out to do a slow ride, but in the beginning, a guy passed us on the flat part of Strawberry Hill Rd, like "hey you two dorks." I could tell he was going to slow on the hill and I got a "shock of adrenaline" as my son used to say when he was racing. I dropped him on the curve near the top of the hill, leaving DH to wonder what had got into me. I never do this. But, this tired me out and I struggled for the rest of the ride.
I should probably take a few days off from everything, but I'm just not willing to do that now. When we were about 5 miles from home, I ate a Shot Block, which did make me feel better. When I got back, I noticed the temperature was 89 degrees and it was 82 when we left. I think the heat got to me, too, although it's not humid.
I will not be riding to boot camp at 4:45 AM tomorrow.
