As for glucose: If you're trying to exclude allergens, you're going to have a hard time doing it. Theoretically, someone can be allergic to anything, and while extraction processes should get rid of the proteins that generally elicit an allergic response, 100% is hard to do. So that pretty much rules out any natural source. That leaves you with trying to make it yourself. Which is stupid. It's doable, but a PITA. Why bother when plants are so much better at it? And corn is cheap.

ETA: The one I looked at was an albuterol formulation
