ha ha, I have another bad idea related to cats:

never cut their nails with a pair of scissors while they're on your lap... My otherwise docile cat didn't take to this and chomped down on my finger - right in the nail bed. I couldn't wash it or otherwise disinfect it so I had to go get a tetanus shot and go on heavy duty antibiotics which turned my insides into liquid.
