Mulling over stuff for next year. Likely will do a couple of olympic distance duathlons in June and July. Sprint season starts Victoria Day; 2 more sprints after that then the Olympic Distance races
Our race series has been bought by WTC - so we'll have to see if they keep same format.
In the meantime - in order to improve - I have had a few assessments done. Apparently, I'm a little bit competitive
.
Body fat analysis via the BodPod. I am 24.6% which for my age makes me "fit." I would like to get to "lean" - 22%.
I saw a nutrition person who just recommended a variation of what I do already - which was not helpful in losing weight this year. I saw another guy with Doctorate of Natural Medicine - he was more in tune with me. He has me following a Paleo diet in conjunction with The Zone. So I've given up dairy, legumes and all refined carbs. Potatoes are allowed as a recovery food after a hard workout. Dropped 5 lbs already. It's tough, but I feel fine.
Had a running gait analysis done. This was an eye opening - especially the view from the back. (ugh!
) Left glute weakness++++++. Also, L leg is a bit extended on landing. And though I thought I ran pretty upright - it was noted I am a bit kyphotic. Good stuff to work on.
Left supraspinatous is torn. Rehabbing that.
Metabolic testing next Saturday. My next season official training begins November 1.
Trying a new saddle - though at this point it is the least of my worries.
Of course I have some time/speed goals for run and bike - I will refine those as I go along. Throw in a few road races along the way.
Let the fun begin!!
