    I've got a polar f7. Not sure if it's the same for all polar hrms, but on my f7, when you hold the watch up to the chest transmitter, it will tell you the time of day. Give it a try.

    I also have a garmin forerunner 305 which I like for knowing distance, but I don't use the hrm on it.

    Usually I wear both.
