After a lifetime of hating running, I'm addicted and can't stop - due, I think to my VFFs.
I've developed pain on the outside of my feet, especially the right one. After much web searching, I'm guessing it's either: inflammation of the peroneal tendon that attaches to the 5th metatarsal, an injury to the 5th metatarsal (I'm pretty sure it isn't fractured, but it could be a stress fracture), or the cuboid bone has slipped and the 5th metatarsal and cuboid bone are hurting. My guess is the first option.
The treatment for all three (except a true break) is wrapping the foot. Wrapping the foot and running "barefoot" seem to be contradictions to me - but I can do it.
Ideas? Instructions on how to correctly wrap a foot?
There is no visible injury, I don't see swelling or discoloration, but I have started icing while I sit at work (and it feels better for it).
Help!
Edit - after reading my own post, I realize I need to call a doctor. I'm still looking for opinions, though.
I also am looking for opinions on what kind of doctor - sports med, podiatrist, or orthopedic...?
