I'm taking it up Diablo tomorrow, just to the Junction. It will be interesting to see how I feel doing it with a standard compact double and no mountain rear cassette. My Rivendell Legolas has a 46-33 in the front and 11 - 34 in the back. The Cervelo is a 50-34 and a 12 - 25 in the back. That means I've lost all my little gears. When I'm in the 34 - 25, it's comparable to being in the 46 - 34. Not that I've ever ridden in that gear, 'cause I'd be seriously cross chained.

I'm interested in how you felt going up Diablo vs. your bikes with the low gears.... I noticed on my compact that because the bike had a 'lighter' feel that I felt more nimble and better able to push the higher gears.... still need some work on the long sustained climbs though AND, I ordered an 11-28 cog so it'll be a bit better....

Anyway, can't wait to read the report on your jaunt!!! Your new bike is SWEET!!!!
