Hey SundialI was in a music rut too before I started teaching Spinning at my gym. Now I am constantly looking for new music. Pandora radio is also a great tool to find bands with the same sound. It's free and works great! Type in a band you already like and it does the rest... http://www.pandora.com/#/stations/create/
Below some things outta my current library that are rock...
Papa Roach: Lifeline, Scars, and this from them...
...To Be Loved (comes as CLEAN radio edit too--my kid loves WWE that's how I found it)

Gotta comment-
Good hard core sprint interval rock song I love to use in class...
"...we are taking back to a hard core level... you better be ready, put your pedal (& bici pedals count) to the metal... GO! ...I never give up, I never give in... I just wanna be loved... ". Visualize some friendly competition against one of his guy ride buddies and hammer it out like there is no tomorrow (or hounds from h*ell chasing--whatever works for ya! lol).
Sick Puppies: You're Going Down (beat the bike up song, bad day at work--also from WWE)
Skillet: Monster (more WWE find... core rock sound)
Seether: Fake It, Broken, Breakdown, Rise Above This
Shinedown: 2nd Chance, Sound of Madness, Devour
3 Doors Down: Kryrptonite, Let Me Be Myself, It's Not My Time
Red Hot Chili Peppers: Otherside, Scar Tissue, Give It Away
Stone Temple Piolets: Plush
Theory of a Deadman: Not Meant To Be, Bad Girlfriend
Seven Mary Three: Cumbersome
Nickleback: How You Remind Me, If Today Was Your Last Day, Rockstar
Linkin Park: What I've Done, Bleed It Out, New Divide, Numb
Lifehouse: Hanging By A Moment
JET: Are You Gonna Be My Girl
Green Day: I love them, but alternative, sprint song "Nice Guys Finish Last"
Creed: My Sacrifice (greatest hits has a lot good heavy climb songs)
Buckcherry: warning-explict though, but great rock beat
Bad Company: Can't Get Enough (oldie but goodie)
BTO: Takin Care Of Business (oldie but goodie, fast beat)
The Offspring: Pretty Fly (more alt. rock, but nice guitar +more in my lib)
I am not normally a techno music person. However, I found Fatboy Slim w/a Lance climbing vid. The song is Acid 8000. It has a great driving beat for some pedaling focus without words. "If this don't make your booty move, your booty must be dead!". YouTube link w/song... it's hypnotic almost lol!

Hope he finds some tunes he likes!
