Been lurking for a little while after I discovered TE on-line shopping ... whoa, dangerous

This July was my biking rebirth following about a 10+ year hiatus - family, divorce, raising my son, work ... excuses, excuses, huh.

I rode a lot in the late 80's early 90's - it was a wonderful time and thrill, filled with personal bests like RAMROD, one day Mt. Hood and one day Mt. St Helens rides, as well as several STPs; plus lot's of friends who loved riding.

All the wonderful memories and fun of biking are returning; though different at this stage, I guess. I think my son getting more into biking around Portland was the catalyst and we are planning to do more rides, yay. He is a pretty strong rider, kicking my b**t up Mt. Tabor where we live, he is certainly loving that (he is 12).

My username is based on my pride and joy bike, a '91 Bridgestone Radac, Dura Ace. I do not have the leg power to fully ride it, yet, as my lowest gearing is 39 x 22. I guess I was in pretty good shape way back then.

My other joy is also a Bridgestone, a '93 MB-5, which I use to only ride around a little bit on errands and toting the Burley when my son was little. It is now my regular rider as it has more friendly gearing. Lot's of time spent fine-tuning this time around, getting the right fit. My riding has been a few short trips around the neighborhood area and committing to using it for errands where whatever I need will fit into a backpack. That's been fun, exploring all over by bike where I would normally just jump in the car.

I love biking around Portland.

Well that's my quick introduction and, also, to say I love reading all the stories and posts here on TE.
