Yesterday my partner was on a scanning/digitizing rampage with his much older family photos. Cobbling together a slide show for his mother's memorial later this month plus he wants to give a copy (without incurring costs) to each of his children, a historical set of older photos they don't have yet. They probably don't know 70% of this stuff exists.
Common theme that ran through photos for adult life of his 93 yr. old mother before she died,..were various photos for different years, that included a cake that she made....photos of birthday parties, Christmas, graduation, weddings, etc. She loved making lovely, elegant gourmet cakes.
Part of a larger common theme in his family tree in past 4 generations: is culinary skill and restaurant biz involving select family members. There's an operational inn with vineyard in Germany since 1700's, a cousin there in different part of Germany who is a chef in his own restauratn, an uncle who was a baker and had a bakery for many decades, and now, my partner's son who is a chef in a restaurant (he did take some courses).
Common theme in my family tree: not as interesting/unique but don't know much about past yet. Just stories of immigration to North America or at least work stints, since great-grandfathers' generation.
Wish I could say cycling had even a tenuous common theme that runs through several generations of family, even if only a few family members. The branch of cycling is still being nurtured.![]()
