I rode my Jamis Coda to do errands in West Concord. I hadn't been on this bike since December. Well, first, when I was resetting the computer, I knocked it off and I thought it fell down into a little drainage grate near the bike shed. I couldn't find it anywhere. It's a cheap thing, but I was pissed. So, I was almost late for my appointment because I wasted time there. It was HOT at 9:30 AM; around 80. I arrived with a red face, since I thought I might be late and I was riding fast, at least fast for that bike. Also got to wear my new Terry cargo skort I bought at the half off sale at a ski place last winter.
After my appointment, I went to the natural foods store to get some soy nut butter. I saw a neighbor who questioned me about how I could "ride so far" in the heat. I explained I was riding for transportation, not training, but she still didn't get it.
The ride home was uneventful, but I realized I haven't done a lot of real traffic riding lately. I mean, it's not city riding, but I do go through 2 suburban downtown areas with some crazy drivers. Since I'm not working or commuting anymore, I rarely ride through these places when there's a lot of cars. So, I got to review my skills!
When I got home, I found my computer in the backyard. It had rolled down the hill, under the wall that attaches the bike shed to the house.
12 very sweaty miles.
