Dear Self, (warning: LONG! I'm working it out for myself...comments welcomed!)
To race or not to race?Since my crash, and not being able to ride for two weeks, all of the sudden I started spending time doing my other hobbies, and found more balance in my life that I liked. I actually had food in the house and so my (old enough to really cook for themselves as young adults) kids had food to eat, and worked in my neglected garden. I actually had time to make things for my neglected business, which had a loss this year for the first time (It's not my day job) I'm thinking, that as fun as it is to train with the gals, it's too much. Especially when my non-racing roadie bf moves here! I'll want to spend weekends riding with him, and doing organized rides on the weekends, or casual tours together, not taking off for a race.
Also, at 50, I'm not too keen on the crashes and injuries that are part of it. Nor could I afford to replace her, I've been lucky with fixable damage with my crashes and incidents so far!
Soooo, maybe it's okay to train with the gals, but not race so much.
Maybe.![]()
