My husband is currently eyeing a Cervelo road bike with a MSRP of over $5000 but it was rented by the shop for some reason and ridden for about 200 km. Because of that, the price is down to just over $3000, even if the bike looks brand new still. And that's from the shop. If he buys the bike, he still gets the warranty, a fitting, technical support, etc.

The drop might be less steep for a less expensive bike, but bikes just seem to lose a lot of value once they hit the road...
