Today has been a bad karma bike day. But, hopefully good bike products and customer service can turn that Karma around.

First, my brand new tires go over the hugest piece of glass I have ever seen on a road that wasn't at the scene of an auto accident that just happened.

Next, I get home from that, and my beloved Giro Pneumo road bike helmet breaks. The body of the helmet is good. No crash. But it's the re-tention adjustment piece that broke.

I bought it two years ago. So, I'm thinking it's past the date where any manufacturer warranty would apply. I called Giro to see if just this part could be bought, vs spending the $ on a whole new helmet.

The customer service rep was very helpful and said she would send one out to me. Should come in 7-10 days. No questions asked about how long I owned it. Notta. Just if I was involved in a crash.

I don't know if it's totally safe to use as in the meantime. Probably not. Luckily I have my mtb helmet to wear. It's yuck heavy for the road. But, it would protect my head just the same.

Hopefully I can get the new piece in ok when it arrives. Just thought I would share this. Here's what the helmet did in terms of breaking...
