I'm not sure how to compare to Sidi because I've never been able to find a Sidi shoe that I could comfortably. I usually wear Adidas that run on the small side, and so these looked like a more consistent sizing to me - but I did notice that they are a little narrower than Adidas.
If you wear 39.5 I would suggest to ask your bike shop to order 39 and 40 and try both. I guess you would fit more comfortably in a 40. It also depends on whether you wear any insoles/wedges in your cycling shoes...
And yes they are cute! I love the gold color with the red accents, and it goes well with one of my bikes that is yellow and gold...
