I just opened up a new tub of miso.
What a visceral (literally) thrill! Opening up a new jar of some foodie-thing is just like stepping into a new car for me. Filling storage containers of dried lentils and beans and quinoa is just... sensual.
I had a roommate in college who was the same way about food stock. Is it a girl thing? What is it about supplies of food or fresh food that just twangs at the heartstrings?
Don't even let me get started on the lovely ripe nectarines and shimmering salmon at my local independent market today.
I'm not even a cook. I just react to beautiful food like it's some precious jewel.
