Blackburn MTN Air Pump: How to Attach to Bike?

I've had this pump laying around the ol' casa for a while. I originally got it for my moped which had a leaky rear tire; it was easier to pump up the tire before riding than it was to contemplate removing the rear wheel to replace the tube. When not in use, I just tossed it the moped's custom rear cargo carrier (translation: milk crate attached with zip-ties ).

Anyway, I thought I might use it as my on-board bike pump, but I can't figure out how it's supposed to attach. I think the holder is supposed to use the same mount as the water bottle cage, but this means the pump sticks out to the side. I haven't tried it yet, but I feel certain it's going to interfere with pedaling. Any ideas?
