LCI's are Proving to be GREAT PEOPLE!
Sometimes you run across patterns that speak well of an entire class of people. We're experiencing this right now with LCI's (League Cycling Instructors)
As many know, following life's experiences, Silver has a passion for cycling safety. So, she wants to get the LCI designation and I'm going along for the education and camaraderie with my wife.
First, I believe the designation has meaning...the prep is rigorous (I got a 76.8% on first pass in the pre-test and a 90% is required...) and there is a prerequisite of the "BIKE I" course...about 9 hours of road drills.
Anyway, we worked to organize the Bike I course last weekend, but it was cancelled due to weather, leaving our participation in next week's LCI Seminar in jeopardy.
So, here are the good experiences with LCI's:
- First, we called Pscyclepath in Little Rock and asked if we could join his Bike I on short notice. "Sure", he said, "I'll help however I can!". Of course weather precluded our driving 10 hours to Little Rock but his attitude was helpful and supportive
- Second, the local instructor called me and said "I know you're in a bind on timing. How about if I take one day off this week and do a course for just the two of you!" WOW! We're doing that today!
- The instructor for our seminar next week has been very insightful and helpful in helping me get my 76% pretest up to 96% (Yea!). He's coming from Madison Wisconsin to help out with this course in Missouri, is clearly very busy, but willing to explain my mistakes and help this novice learn...
So, from the Silvers: Thanks to all LCI's...you're a great class of people!
