Hey all,

Didn't know if anybody has purchased or used the new Oakley Radars for Women and/or if people were interested. I ordered a pair for as a birthday present from somebody and they came about 15 min ago.

Background.....

I have a very narrow head and most sunglasses look just plain stupid on me because there's usually a gap between my temples and the sides of the glasses. I currently have a pair of Oakley Half Jackets that I've used for over a year now. I love them in the sense that they're super light, I love the idea of not having a rim all the way around to not obstruct view, and I honestly switch out the lenses frequently (though my persimmon ones are used 90% of the time on the bike). I've found though that they tend to move a little and don't stay locked on because they're really only grabbing the sides of my head in a narrow section because of the width and arc of the glasses. The arms are also quite long.

So all that being said - I've been browsing glasses more and more over time to find a high quality pair that have a better fit.

Case and point - the Radar was born. It was love at first sight and I've been completely hooked ever since. The only problem was....Oakley only had men's (I don't consider huge glasses "unisex"). As upset as I was, I moved on in life and dreamed about the new Madones.

Then one day it happened. I read on cyclingnews.com that Oakley was putting out a women's version of the Radar that was geared towards "those looking for narrower profiles". Elation. I went onto their website and there they were in all their glory - Women's Radar Straight Stem PATH. (PATH being the shortest height of the 3 types of lenses to choose from). It was exactly what I had been dreaming about but thought would never exist. I chose the white frames with G30 Black Iridium lenses...the exact same lenses I wanted to buy for my Half Jackets. Could they read my mind? I placed my order immediately and then read every word they have on their site about the technology gone into the lenses and frames. It's definitely impressive if you care to divulge. So the idea was....order them. See if they fit properly or look huge and stupid. Worst case scenario, send them back, give yourself a pat and say "you tried!".

So the doorbell rang before and I was as giddy as could be. My new glasses had arrived. As soon as I ripped open the box and got them out I couldn't believe how perdy they are. I put them on immediately and I think I have 20/10 vision with those things on. They make life more clear and crisp...if you could imagine. I feel like Superman with those things on. And you know how much of a dork I am? Of course I ran and put my bike helmet on to 1) see how incredibly cool I look and 2) see how well the integration is between the glasses and the helmet. I have a Giro helmet and since almost every ProTour rider sponsored by Oakley tends to wear a Giro helmet, I knew it would be perfect. And it was.

So as I type this I'm completely compelled to get on my bike tonight and go out on the road - just because I got new sunglasses. I wasn't even planning on it because it's about 95 degrees and humid as hell. But I don't care.

I love my new toy.
