I also got the Lakes after my experience of near frostbite on a cold and windy ride a couple of weeks ago. I wore them on Saturday for a 3-hour ride, with a stop, and my feet stayed pretty warm with wool socks and light sock liners. If it had been much colder, I probably would have used chemical toe warmers too. I did go up from my normal size.

I got mine from LickBike. This year's model is $194 but they did have some of last year's as well, for less. They are a bit clunky but I didn't have any problem with my clips (not clipless yet).

Winter shoes are definitely worth it if you have have problems with cold feet.
