I just learned that it was not appropriate to ride in just a sports top. If so, why do they make really cool-looking ones that match the jersey and shorts? Also, what about sports tops made for biking - they come down to the waist, but have pockets in the back for biking gear?
If you do wear one, what happens, the cycling fashion police give you a ticket? I've been known to go all the way down to a sports bra on a risk free trail, just to deal with the heat. Mainly, it's the skin-loss penalty for a mistake that I worry about. And If you wear a camelback, it's very sweaty and uncomfortable.

I wear the T-top tanks a lot, next best thing.

As for matching sets, I would imagine that is for the spin/gym rat crowd.
