Just a note on the mileage to stops and such... I know everyone is different but I can't emphasize enough especially since this is training for a century to fuel on a regular basis. This will be especially important in the heat. Going 30 miles without taking in substance and then planning on another 30 without a stop can cause a real bonk situation especially if out in the saddle for while (like 3, 4,5 6 hours). Hopefully during the century everyone plans on stopping at each sag to fuel. The sags are usually every 15 - 20 miles. Once you hit 75 - 80 miles and your system still has reserves your body will thank you. I plan on taking GU/Beans/Balance Bars and after the first hour will most likely try to GU or Bean every 30 - 45 minutes through-out the ride. I'm hoping to treat this ride just as I would the century and want to finish feeling good (if its not Africa hot out and I get dehydrated).
Just another thing to consider, if the weather doesn't break - be flexible with the ride. No sense riding inland, doing hills, when it's incredibly hot. Don't want a bunch of sick, dehydrated folks on your hands.
The nice thing is Cool Breeze generally is well cool when elsewhere it's hot. Heat does not have to be part of your training.
