I do hikes and rides. Check out the website and if anything look interesting to you let me know - I can give you information or I can try and join you if I have nothing else planned.

I need easy hikes that the kids can keep up on...I've wanted to do the hike to the Sinks for awhile now. We were supposed to do it last year with Lori Whalen (works at the Environmental Nature Center in NB but worked at Nature Conservancy before that) and it was rained out. Do you ever lead that one?

Woohoo!!!!!! I don't have access to all of my fun smilies right now but if I did you'd be seeing a ton of hyper smilies in this post.

I just ordered the '06 Trek 1000 WSD to be shipped and assembled at my LBS. I was tempted to have it shipped overnight because I have no patience but I figured I'd stay out of trouble with dh. lol

Don't know how long it will take to get here.

I don't think dh realizes all of the accessories I'm going to need to be ready and safe for the road. Have to ease him in to it so I doubt I'll be ready for the 29th - that's only one week away!!!!

I can't wait to get started!

Thumbs up Hello So Cal Ladies!

Count me in for a monthly or bi-monthly TE ride too! This would be really fun and I would love to meet you all! I'm in Torrance, and I can meet anywhere for a ride.

My suggestion for a future ride would be to ride on the bike paths, such as the LA River Bike path. They are clean, free of traffic and 99% free of pedestrians, skaters etc. I'm hearing lately about waaay too many crashes on the RB to Marina del Rey bike path. It's so congested and I don't feel it is very safe, especially for the newer riders.

I'm looking forward to riding with you all soon!

Congrats Tiffanie on your new bike!

Yep know Lori - We started out together.

Yep all Sinks the time (rode out to it yesterday) - better yet is the Dripping Springs hike in the same area, How old are the kids. If younger than 8 - then I would suggest doing Sinks from the Hangman staging area. Also check for some of the specialty hikes - like "Animal Tracking with Deano" Tailored made for kids!!! Check out the hikes, let me know which ones you are interested in and I can give you information or if free, can join you. If possible, try and get out before the end of June as the wildflowers are peaking right now.

Lori is great, the kids really enjoy her.

My kids are 3.5, 6 and 8...seasoned campers and hikers. I requested a reservation for the Hike to the Sinks on 6/17. I'll keep an eye out for the specialty hikes.

check out the website, irvineranchlandreserve.org. Here's the next animal tracking hike:

6/3/2006 8:30 AM Animal Tracking Hike to the Sinks Limestone Canyon Wilderness Area Easy Call (714) 832-7478 or
    Email

You can email a reservation thru the website. They will send you information and directions. This is a good hike for kids. It goes from Hangman's to the sinks only about 3 miles round trip.

Here's another interesting hike for kids:

6/9/2006 7:45 PM Full Moon Hike to the Sinks Limestone Canyon Wilderness Area Easy Call (714) 832-7478 or Email

    Thank you Pam!!!!!!!!

    Pam,

You are da bomb!!!!!!! Holy Cow, I am LOVIN' THAT WEBSITE! Or rather, the 'stuff' on it! I have signed up for the 8/12 hike with the boys and requested a reservation via email for the 6/17 hike to the sinks. We're going to be out of town or I'm on bike rides for the others but I am SO excited!!!!

Once things settle down I'll look again for stuff I can sign up for (the strenuous hikes and beginners bike stuff!).

You are such a great source of information, I can't thank you enough!!!!

    Tracy

ps. did I say thank you ?????

Tracy and everyone - just a note the Bommer Canyon/Irvine Ranch Land Reserve I have nothing to do with. It's s "sister" organization that's run by the City of Irvine. The North Reserve/The Nature Conservancy hikes and rides (which I am a docent) are only posted two months at a time - so right now May and June is listed we haven't done July or August yet. I can't speak for the Bommer hikes or rides. I know their mountain bike rides are very hard core. I would email them for more information on their hikes.

If I don't have anything scheduled for the 6/17 Sinks hike I'll try and join you.
