which helmet color makes you "feel" the fastest/greatest/happiest?

Okay Ladies, we all can admit that the colors of our stuff in our world can make us feel different things... for example, a blue bedroom can make you feel relaxed, red brings energy, etc.

WHAT COLOR IS YOUR HELMET AND DOES IT MAKE YOU FEEL FASTER/MORE PUT TOGETHER, ETC?

***Back story: in the market for a new helmet (the Giro Sonnet). I can't decide between the black (with a subbtle pattern on back half) with some turquoise on back part of helmet OR it in a matte titanium and light blue pattern on the back of helmet. You can view them here.

Since I have a custom painted bike I like a very well vented helmet which color coordinates with my bike- in this case red, black and white.

As for happiness one that fits well and protects your head is the best kind.

I went with safety and visibility: a Scott Lin (it is a MIPS helmet) in obnoxious green... I am waiting for a road helmet with MIPS. Lazer has announced a Lazer Helium, but it is not available in the US. POC just announced one (their "Octal" will have MIPS) as well as Smith Optics (the "Overtake"... I don't like the look).

Ah, I've never thought of a helmet as something that makes me happy or feel like I go faster.
Safety, venting, and color. I have 2 bikes and 2 helmets. I used to have a red and blue one, to match each bike; now I have a white/black one that I mostly wear with the red bike (a Lazer) and a blue one to match the blue custom bike. Occasionally, I wear the white one with the blue bike.

I like my red helmet quite a lot, but I do have a few jerseys that are pink(ish) and when I wear one of those I like the redness of my helmet a little less, until I put it on my head and get going, and then I invariably forget all about it.

I wish it were easier to manage my hair in my helmet.

Between the black and matte titanium I vote titanium .....my last few helmets have been a LAS in white....thinking I've always had white so color isn't that important to me i guess. I do like the LAS styling (Italians do know style!!) coordinating a look isn't something i do though, haven't noticed any speed difference due to different helmets.....but hey it fits extremely well, has an effective bug net, keeps my head cool and most importantly protects my head!!!!

I choose a helmet, partially for visibility and just looking better on me. How vain.
So my helmets have the plastic visor except for my fashion more round Giro that is lime green with an art design sketch. Another is high visibility yellow and black, while oldest one is a dullish red and black which I don't care for..but I was desperate to buy a helmet that fit my other needs. Latter I plan to throw out once I'm willing to recycle others...

Part of me doesn't want to wear an all black helmet or dark coloured helmets....partially because I feel "hotter" in summer to wear an all dark helmet and also because I have black hair....so I'd rather contrast my dark hair colouring against a bright coloured helmet.

In our household the guys are the fussy ones - they will only wear all-black helmets, preferably matte black ;-) I've had a silver helmet for better visibility in the dark, especially after a potential crash or fall, a red/white/black helmet because it matched my fastest bike and was voted "super-cool" by a friend's small child, and now a more discreet black with a little white because that's what they had in stock in my size. I'm fussy about fit and type, not as much about colour. But red makes me feel fast :-)

Thank you ladies for indulging me. It's interesting to see the difference thought process. I love how so many of you try to match your bikes!

I actually starting thinking about this when I was looking for helmet suggestions on the forum and came across shootingstar's posthttp://forums.teamestrogen.com/showt...ghlight=helmet.

lph- I know the exact way of saying "super cool" that you are talking about! My 8 year old niece and 5 year old nephew live in Oslo!

I'm not too particular, but one thing is for sure is that black is the hottest color, and dark grey is a close second. Helmet color DOES make a difference, more so with a moto helmet but with bici helmets as well. I wouldn't own a black helmet even in Ohio, and if I lived in Texas I don't think I'd get anything but white. You can get creative and decorate it with reflective stickers!

I try to avoid black, because it's hot and I live in a desert. I look for fit first; color is secondary. My current helmet is red/white/black. It matches my cross bike. Nothing matches my other two (teal/white, and blue-green-purple). My next helmet will be what ever color's on sale, since the only helmets that I've found that fit me are the super $$$ ones.

Yeah. No dark colors, they absorb heat. Light color or big sections of white, plus good fit, vents, visor to keep the sun off my face and rain out of my eyes, lightweight, comfortable, bonus points if I can get it on sale. Currently I have one that's red and white and one that's red, white and blue.

I have a hot pink Rudy Project (and my team kit is black/neon green/highlighter yellow accents... so I don't match at all in regards to helmet w/ kit). I just love obnoxious neon colors and this one was on sale at the LBS
