Bumpety-bump-bump - the Gunnar is going to be listed on eBay tonight or tomorrow but the price here is still good for TE members, still hoping I won't have to sell her for parts.

If only! We can only take four of our six bikes with us as it is. The MTBs (our Jamis near-twins) are living at my mother's this summer, and we have our Trek roadies and Bike Fridays (for utility rides) with us. I feel sure you'll find a buyer, though -- she is a beaut, and a lot of women like a more upright position!

BumpI am posting this on eBay tonight, and won't bump this post again until I sell it. As it is a true full custom bike it HAS no size, but if it were a Long Haul Trucker it would likely be close to a 48....if they HAD one at all, or one with 26 inch wheels.
Crossing fingers for you, Catrin!
If it is close to a 48, it likely would have been a bit too large for me after all, even though your Jamis fit me fine. The road bikes I've had that fit me best range from 44.5 to 47 cm, so it's highly possible a 48 might just be a bit long in the top tube.
Keep us posted!

It isn't any stock size, that is why I provided all of the dimensions above. It has a just a little shorter reach than the Jamis, if my memory is correct. It is meant for an upright riding position + flat bars so I don't know that it really compares with a bike with drop bars - which is how I define a road bike. A 48 for a LHT, if such a thing existed (it doesn't), probably would have a longer TT than what the Gunnar has. I was just trying to related it to something, and I probably shouldn't do that. My fitter/builder said I should just let the dimensions speak for themselves.
Yes, that makes sense...you're right that custom doesn't necessarily relate to anything stock. Depending on the seat tube angle, the reach to the handlebars is going to vary anyway...and since it has flat bars, the reach would be shorter than with the same TT length and drop bars.
I just really hope you sell it. It's a beautiful bike -- I know because I saw it in person!![]()

Catrin, I found your listing on Ebay -- NICE. Someone is going to get an amazing bike for an incredibly reasonable price. I did wonder why your shipping cost is so low, though. It's always cost me over $100 to ship a bike. I don't want you to lose money on shipping!
(BTW: Looking at the geometry more closely, I now think the reach would be fine for me, but the standover is actually a little higher than I would want. My Trek is slightly lower than that and is as high as I'd want to go. I had a road bike previously where the top tube touched my crotch when standing over it, and that was really not ideal. Your Gunnar would as well, so your legs are longer than mine, obviously.)
Good luck!

That shipping price is only to MY zip code...it will vary based on shipping location. I am thinking about raising the price a bit to cover the packing charges but I might just eat that. If it sells locally then there won't BE any packing charges.
I do have long legs :-) I would take a larger size bike if I could tolerate more weight on my hands. There is a very good reason why the Jamis had such a TALL seatpost when you bought it, that wasn't stock.
I decided to charge a fixed shipping cost of $100, that should cover enough of both packing and shipping that I won't complain if it goes over. I really struggled with the opening bid. I didn't want to put it TOO high, but I also didn't want to set it too low either. I DO have two watchers, so hopefully some interest is developing. It is worth something to me to not have to sell her for parts!

Good -- I'm glad you set a fixed shipping rate. That makes sense since you are in the middle of the country. I used to sell on ebay a lot, and living in NC, I got burned several times selling expensive items with fixed rates if the buyer ended up being on the west coast. In the middle of the country, it's far easier for a fixed shipping rate to come out fair. The original shipping rate I saw for your auction was $27.50, and that was to my (old) zip of 66208 (Prairie Village, KS), so even though that's fairly close to Indy, that rate is way too small for an item of that size. I am sure you would have eaten a lot of the shipping charge in that case!
Interestingly, I ended up raising the seatpost on the Jamis pretty high myself, so I am glad you got the taller one. My legs aren't particularly short for my height, but I am shorter than you. I used to be 5'2", but at my last dr. appointment, she measured me at 5'1.5", so I am probably shrinking. My "cycling inseam" is around 28.5", but since MTBs have lower top tubes, I was able to stand over the Jamis just fine. Glad of that!![]()

That makes more sense. It cost me around $75-100 to ship each of my bikes (practically) cross-country (the Charge was really expensive!), and I packed all three myself, so that expense wasn't in there.
I'm a little sad for you that you have to sell her, but I hope she goes to a wonderful new home!
At least I don't leave slime trails.

Saving for the next one...
I appreciate the input. My LBS will charge between $50-$60 to pack and deliver it to UPS (just across the street), so I will still likely have to eat part of the shipping cost, but it shouldn't be too bad. The original shipping cost quoted by eBay was for a 30 lb bike with the box dimensions, I thought it seemed quite low. Thanks again!
