    Clipless - I survived!

I had clipless pedals put on the bike last weekend, and was kinda stressing about them all week. (I couldn't ride during the week because I get home after dark.) I decided to give them a try on the MUP today, figuring if I fell, the worst thing to run me over would be a triple stroller.
My biggest fear wasn't falling, it was that my foot would go flying off the pedal if I couldn't immediately clip in. I was relieved to find that I could indeed pedal just fine without clipping in, until I had time to look down and clip in.
I was really amazed at how good they felt. No more numb feet and I just felt overall more comfortable on the bike. It was good to start on the MUP because it was pretty empty today (cold) and I could start and stop without having to worry about traffic. Now I need to get out on the roads to see how I handle some unexpected situations.
No, I didn't fall, but yes, I am aware that will eventually happen. I almost wish i had fallen today, just to get it over with
They were much easier than I thought, although clipping in was not graceful at all (sounded a bit like this: clickety, thunkety, thunk, thunk, clickety, CLICK!!)
Now, if I could just find the perfect saddle

Congrats! Before you know it, you'll be clipping in without even looking down! Falling isn't mandatory either. I know of one rider who didn't fall after going clipless. (OK, one...but still!)

Glad to hear you made the step to clipless. For me, it was after i got more confident that I had problems and few falling over events at intersections. Hope you don't go through that!

    Good for you!

(The times I fell were after I got more confident with the pedals. )
At least I don't leave slime trails.

I didn't fall until the very end of my first Century - about 6 months after I got them. In the parking lot - some pedestrians came suddenly out from the side of a van and I just unclipped left... fell right. LOL!

    Congrats! They're awesome.

Congratulations!!!!! So glad you had such a good start- I love my SPDs but fell in gravel the first ride (in front of many teenage boys so embarrassment was worse than the blood!!)
