Late checking in, 139.5 today. I am happy with that, I didn't make my goal but I also didn't focus hard on not indulging over the holidays. I am getting off Weight watchers and trying to lose a bit more giving up some of my vices (artificial sweeteners, high fructose corn syrup, processed foods). I found it was too easy for me to rely on these on Weight watchers. The new program focuses on fresher foods but it is easier for me to just grab a box with the points. Also I need to work more on toning, not weight to make my body what I want.

    I am 35 pounds lighter than 365 days ago. And I now wear a size 6-8 where I was a size 12-14. Happy 2012.

I joined this forum in April when I was a bit more than 20 pounds into my weight loss journey. The weight loss challenge was a great help to me, plus Possegal's spreadsheet has helped me keep track of my progress. I just went back to look at the spreadsheets since I joined and it felt good to see what I managed to accomplish. Going from obese to normal weight in a year.

I am 48 pounds lighter than a year ago. I was a size 2x and now and am an 8/10.

Now I just have to improve my fat/muscle ratio.

    Wow, goldfinch and Amanda!

Wonderful jobs both of you. That's some significant weight loss. You should be very proud of yourselves.

    Happy New Year!

So salami is laden with sodium, huh?

I'm so puffy today I can barely get my wedding ring on and off. The only unusual thing I've eaten is some pita bite crackers with Genoa salami and provolone cheese last night...I have never had salami that I recall, and rarely eat cheese, although I do like provolone on sandwiches sometimes.

I'm going to be drinking lots of water to flush this stuff out of me. I'm glad weigh-in is several days away.

Any "lunch meat," especially pork or beef based, is going to be extremely salty. It's horribly fatty, too, and not the good kind of fat. It sucks to think that we can't have treats like this once in awhile, but I know that if I eat any type of food that is very salty, I feel horrible and I will gain 2 lbs. overnight.

Like Crankin said, salami is full of sodium. Cheese is also high-sodium as are pita crackers unless you specifically get the low-sodium type. No wonder you're all puffy.

Sounds yummy, but yeah, a recipe for water retention!

Yeah, that's what I figured, after the fact. Good thing this party thing doesn't happen all that often.

I guess this doesn't count, but I just got back from vacation late last night and weighed myself at 139.8 this morning. Which is nothing short of amazing. I slept until almost noon (went to bed at 3:45 am), so I'm sure it will be higher tomorrow morning at regular time, but I'm really glad it wasn't way higher than usual.

Vacation eating was way different from usual. Meals at unusual times, smaller lunches than usual, more protein for dinner than usual, lots of desserts, also lots of vegetables.

I brought some of the leftover desserts back with me, and plan to freeze them in small portions so I can have a treat now and then.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled eating habits...

    Gone but not forgotten:
    - Silver 2003 aluminum road bike
    - Two awesome worn out Juliana saddles

Thank you everyone. My husband has gotten three people in the last week stop him and ask what I had done. I did this for me and my health but I can't say it isn't nice that people notice. I just feel so much better in so many parts of my life now.

Goldfinch- GREAT JOB!! You have already done the harder part, now you can work on the muscle. It is a lot easier when you're feeling better because you are not obese.

Thanks Amanda. And congratulations to you too! I too did it for me and for my health. I think that I mentally made the switch to weight loss in bed at night, my back hurting, and I could just feel my weight on my "front" when I was laying on my side.
