2000g == 4.4 pounds gone baby gone! Oh heck yah you are going to love the I9s sooo much! Don't be surprised if you accidentally pop a few wheelies the first times out.

Your hubby is going to love his new toy! Make sure you guys get out and play in the dirt as much as possible!

DOH! Added and extra zero to my math. Over 200 (about 215-230) grams per wheel. And for some reason I thought the wheels were 1,520 I am building but they are 1,570. Only a little over a pound maybe 1.5 depending on which site you trust on the weights of different components and if I swap the cassette. But they should be way stiffer and the tubeless set up practically foolproof which I am quickly finding out is not the case with the DT Swiss rims. Since I am not a fan of the DT Swiss set up I think I am just going to sell them. If I am not confident in something (such as the tubeless set up I have now) it will just collect dust. I can always watch for someone selling some cast off wheels which happens fairly regularly in our mountain bike crazed town.

We're having trouble getting S-Works here in Texas so hopefully my husband has his sometime this summer. I on the other hand am getting out often. This is the first 29er and first Specialized I have had.

I think there is also a difference when you race. On my road bike I don't care, I ride it for fitness. It actually helps to have the extra weight if I want to do intervals. My mountain bike I like to go up and over things easy, I like to be head of the pack. So weight matters there.
