burst blood vessel in eye?

I've been exercising a lot lately... the spring thing that I always do. I don't know if that's related or not but last night friends started asking me what was wrong with my eye. I blew it off, it feels fine and I didn't know what they were talking about.
I just looked - my right eye is full of blood. It doesn't hurt (well it does now, but you say the word "headache" to me and I get a headache, so I think it's psychosomatic).
I'm wondering if I should
A) ignore it, it will go away
B) go to a doctor
C) go to an ophthalmologist (I have one, as a Type 1 diabetic eye issues are a big deal, so I go to an ophthalmologist, not an optometrist).

Have you been coughing or lifted anything heavy?

I get burst blood vessels in my eyes sometimes during allergy season from coughing..... (they always just go away without any intervention).

the first folks that noticed were at crossfit - but that was before the workout. So, no.
But, this week I:
Tuesday: 40k TT, then rode the bike to pick up my car at the shop.
Weds: Jog 2 miles (personal best of 12.3 min/mi)
Thurs: Crossfit (but my eye was already looking weird).
I have been working up to this level of activity, but it's a jump from previous week.

I've had this too. It looks worse than it is. No pain. It will clear up in a couple days. I think if it happened frequently you would want to go to a doctor just to be sure, or if it does not show signs of dissapating within a day or so.

I generally agree withe previous posts, but can you explain more what you mean by "full of blood"?

I've had problems in the past with big red spots on my eye, but they've been about the diameter of a pencil eraser. They went away on their own in a few days. But if you really mean the whole white of your eye is very red, that might be something different, and you might want to call your opthamologist to ask if you should have it looked at.

It's not red, it's blood. A burst vessel or something in the corner of my eye. I injure my eye all the time, and don't worry about it. I'm only (slightly) worried because I don't know the cause of this.
But, I did call my ophthalmologist. The receptionist said if I wasn't a diabetic, they'd tell me to wait until Monday, but as a diabetic, she made an apt for this morning. It's probably nothing, but they are extra cautious.
So, thanks. I'm betting it's nothing.

When my eye looked like a blood vessel had burst, I had a scratched cornea. Of course, I also had a severe headache. I think it's wise that you're being seen. I error on the side of caution when it comes to my eyes.

this one time, a guy friend of mine was um...how do i put this...spending some quality time alone. apparently it was some very good quality time. afterwards, he looked in the mirror and, wtf? his eyeball had a giant burst vessel.

thinking he might be having a stroke, he dialed 911. once the paramedics got there, he had to explain exactly what he was doing. the medics assured him he was fine, and that this was somewhat common. d'oh.

that's my broken blood vessel in the eye story. hope you enjoyed it.

A woman at work told me that it happened to her once when she decided to try purging to lose weight.
My conclusion = burst blood vessel in eye leads to over sharing.

Mine is just a burst eye vessel. The only minor concern (besides the diabetes) is that I have absolutely no idea what caused it. Anyway, no exercise for a few days, and as long as it doesn't happen habitually, no problem.

My sister has been in Tx for cancer for the last 4 years. One time she had one of her many appointments with her oncologist and she had one of those too. Every person we met up with leading up to seeing the doctor, had a very grave 'oh my what happened' sort of reaction to it. Now I'd rather they over react than under when it comes to her, but she just kept having to repeat over and over, nothing, woke up with it, who knows what I did.

We are in the exam room, oncologist walks in, big broken blood vessel in his eye, he just looks at her and says "you too, huh?" They both compared the fact that they didn't do anything that may have cause d it and we moved on. It at least gave us all a good laugh at the oncologist, and that is never a bad thing.

Blood on outside of eyeball- it's usually OK.

Blood inside eyeball (and you WON'T see that) which is suddenly a lot of black floaters in your vision, part of your vision gone, large cloudy bits in your vision, bright flashes, basically anything that causes your vision to change- BAD. That's your retina haemoragging or your retina detaching.

I did a series of short, not very high level plane flights over a couple of days and I ended up with a lovely red spot on my eyeball too!
