Yep, I had it done (last session of 6 in March of this year) and it works for the most part. Some hair grew back, but it is lighter. Still, I was very pleased by the results. It works best on dark hair and lighter skin.

I'm getting it done on my underarms, will start sessions on my bikini line this winter.
I'm a fan. My skin is sensitive, so the two days after a treatment, I get inflammation and it itches, but it goes away pretty fast.
Cheaper than waxing in the long run, and I get ingrowns so I don't like shaving those areas, so it was the best option for me.

I've always wanted to, my neighbour's had her arm pits and legs done and sings praises all the time.
What I want to know is if those portable devices at home works. Like this one.
I've been getting a tattoo removed and It is the same concept as laser tattoo removal, only the tattoo laser is stronger. You are essentially creating an injury for the body to repair. In the tattoo removal case, it is a controlled second degree burn. Much less for the hair removal, but you can still get mild blisters after treatment if you have sensitive skin, or if they have to increase the intensity to treat your hair. I've heard of girls getting only a mild rash that looks like a sunburn, but I get full on swelling, dry skin and itchyness.
I would think that a home product is not allowed to be strong enough to create the damage needed for the body to repair itself, and if it WAS, I'd be worried about hurting myself.
I'd go to the pros. I mean, its a frickin LASER, right?

I've had several sessions and thought it helped a great deal. My only regret is that it's too expensive for me to have more done any time soon!

I haven't looked into the cost yet. But shaving is hard on my bikini line. I get a rash almost every time. And when I work in hot area's I can't even shave. So I use nair. But those creams are so nasty I can't imagine putting them on your skin every week is very good for you.
Someone told me all your hair grows back years later?

Laser hair removal is not completely permanent. It is common for SOME of your hair to grow back, but it grows back finer and more slowly than before. I have friends who are hair free all year with two touch ups. No shaving, no waxing, no depilatories all year, and they go for 1 touch up treatment every 6 months. If you want completely permanent, you have to go with an electrolysis treatment, and that goes follicle by follicle, and is much more expensive, so it just isn't an option for large areas of hair.
You have to decide if it is worth it to you. I have dark, thick hair and I spend over $100 a month on waxing my bikini and armpits. I have 1 week a month where I can't wear a swimsuit without covering up because I have to let my 'side burns' grow in enough to wax. I'm in the pool at least 3 times a week year round, and it definitely affects my bike rides if I have stubble or ingrowns. Not to mention how self concious I feel in the shorty shorts I wear when I'm running. I wear sleeveless tops a lot. I get razor burn from shaving those areas. I decided that the initial cost + yearly maintenance is more than worth it for me, and judging from how long I go between treatments right now, I may not need 2x yearly touch ups.
I get my laser treatments through Livingsocial.com. It is one of many discount coupon websites with BIG discounts on things like spa treatments. I've been getting no less than 50% off on things like the laser treatment, facials and massages. It definitely makes the laser thing affordable. Try groupon.com as well.
Hope that helps!
