    2011 Race Season

    To disable ads, please log-in.

    Hello!

I don't think we have this thread yet, BUT, as we get to towards fall, I figure people might be thinking about goals for next year.

I am feeling pretty ambitious :-)

I am running a few half marathons this fall.
Jan 2011 I am running Disney marathon with friends.
    May 2011 IM St. George
    Nov 2011 IM Florida
And I think that's about enough!

Anyone else? Anyone going for their first tri next year? Anyone stepping up the distance for the first time?
Slow and steady (like a train!)

My goal is to do at least two sprint tris next year.

I'm planning on the Topeka Tinman and the Chicago Tri. There's rumor that the Omaha triathlon may have a sprint distance next year as well.

If my running continues to go well I'd like to do a 5k or two just for fun.

I'm so excited for next year!

I did my first sprint this August and am planning either two sprints next year or a sprint and an Oly, along with several races between 5K and HM.

    Sounds good, ladies!

Next year I'm doing another IM. It's been 4 years and I feel like I need to prove to myself that I'm not a "one hit wonder."
Other than that, just a few small tris leading up, and then another 24 hour running race in the fall.

I haven't really planned out my season yet but my goals for next year are:

Run my first marathon - hopefully Boston in April.

Complete my 1st HIM - Have not picked a race yet - looking at Providence 70.3 in July or a race in upstate NY the same weekend.

I like to try and do a race per month in the summer so probably a spring in May and June the HIM in July then an OLY either August or Sept (or both)

I've already registered for a triathlon in May 2011! It's the Columbia Triathlon and will be my first Oly (I failed to do my first Oly last year when I got Achilles tendinitis). I was planning to do an Oly next year but I wasn't planning to do one so early in the season, nor one so challenging!

The Oly I was planning on is in August and will be my A race for the year.

I'll start off the season with a sprint in May, 2 weeks before Columbia, and I'll end with a sprint at the beach when we're at our timeshare on September. I have no idea yet what I might do in June or July beyond my Tour de Cure ride in early June.
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

Fall 2010 - marathon (90% likely to be the Seattle Marathon)

Spring 2011 - varying half marathons and shorter distances, and self-made semi-triathlons
    June 2011 - IM CdA
July 2011 - Considering doing the Seattle to Portland (200mi ride)
Remainder of summer 2011 - varying olympic and sprint distance races

Not really anything different than I've done. I may look for a HIM for fall, if I can find something that fits the bill. I don't think I'm interested in back to back Ironman races, though Florida sounds nice (but I think it's pretty difficult to get into).

I had such a great season this year that I am going to repeat. I did a race a month from April through September, with some bike races thrown in on off weekends.

    I did
    2 road Oly
    1 road du
    2 Xterra Short course
1 Xterra long course....which was just about equal to a HIM with a finish time of 5:13. And I made the podium with that time. People were on the course for 7 hours.

    Fall-three trail runnng races

I have an improved time goal for each race for next year. We have plans to travel more next summer, and I know that can travel and handle this training schedule.

IF I get the tendonitis in my foot healed I am planning a half marathon in Memphis (12/10) and Champaign (5/11).

I want to push my distance and do at least one Olympic and conquer the open water swim!

You all have me feeling like a total slacker!!!
This being my first year competing, the tri I do in October will be the 4th of the season.
For 2011, I'm looking at bettering my times all the way around, and a race a month from May to October sounds good. The longest I've done was a Sprint, and an Olympic distance sounds doable (not even looking up HIM online much less thinking about them!!)
I'm not much of a runner other than to finish a tri, so a couple of 5ks at the beginning of the year will probably happen.

Although I had contemplated what I might like to do next year, I really had no intention of actually planning anything until after Jan1, but one local race group likes to open their registration WAY ahead of the race dates and they tend to fill up very quickly. So, it was register now or don't race for the Columbia Oly.

The big kahuna for randonneurs: Paris-Brest-Paris.

ETA: Which, of course, has nothing to do with triathlon. :-) I'll try to stay in decent enough tri shape to knock out a couple of Oly events. I set a new PR this year (2:48) and would like to stay in shape to keep that up. But I won't do another HIM until 2012, I think.

My plan for 2011 is to repeat the three sprint tri's I did this year and add in one OLY and maybe one additional sprint.

    Canby Gator Grinder - May
    Blue Lake - early June
Pacific Crest OLY - end of June
    Mid-Summer - end of July/early August
    Scoggins Valley - early September
    or
Black Hills OLY - early September

Maybe, maybe, maybe I'll do a run event or two early in the year as well - we'll see how the 'off-season' goes.
