Momentum article summarizes long-term medical study on benefits of cycling for women. Meaning 1/2 hr. of regular cycling.

Well, some cycling is better than no cardiovascular activity/exercise.
If I was riding flat terrain for half hr. daily, not sure if I could control my weight. I would require more cycling time on daily basis..or 1-2 steeper hills on the regular route.

Even if you aren't burning a ton of calories, any amount of regular exercise increases insulin sensitivity, which is a great thin. A half an hour ride wouldn't do a whole lot for me just because I need more than a half an hour to really enjoy myself, but at he gym in the winter, a half an hour of hard hills is plenty of work!

I never started dropping weight until I was going on longer rides - 1.5 hours or longer.

And channeluv, you probably were already trying to eat better/more balanced before embarking on 1.5 hr. long rides.

Maybe another person (not you) who had a really unhealthy diet, then changed diet and did this time period for cycling, it would work for awhile and drop weight, etc.

Guess age, etc. and other health conditions would be factors too.

Yes, half an hr. of indoor spinning helps like anything else. I don't do indoor spinning. I just cycle less outdoors during the winter/rainier seasons.
