    Sit Bone Width Question

Does giving birth make you have wider sit bones?

Thanks - it's something I've been curious about with so many folks lately wondering, "What saddle is right for me?"

The hormone Relaxin is produced in large quantities starting in the first few months of pregnancy and causes all joint ligaments to soften. The pelvic ligaments can temporarily spread a small amount with increased baby weight and pressure in late pregnancy, thus spreading the pubic bones a bit, also your foot bones can widen/flatten out during this time. All this is to allow the pubis bones to accomodate the baby's head to pass through during birth. Relaxin levels return to normal a few weeks after birth and things go back pretty much to the way they were.

    Except for my shoe size.

One. Full. Size. 10 to 11. I can't have more kids or I will only be able to shop in the drag queen shoe stores. Not that there's anything wrong with that, and I certainly live in the right place, but the selection is limited.

Seriously - right? And I like some heel but no go go and no stilettos.

    Yikes. I'm a 10-1/2 Wide. I guess it's a really good thing I never had children.

I've heard of feet growing after/during pregnancy too. But mine stayed the same after two pregnancies. (good thing!)
