    Wind advice

We are in the season for very strong winds and especially the more dangerous gusts. I just got my new trek 7.7fx which I love and am no longer feeling guilty over. It feels even more that I'm going to get blown over because the bike is a whole lot lighter than what I was used to. Yesterday it was scary, especially the crosswinds. Is there a way to compensate for that?

Pedal through them, even if you are pedaling into your brakes. Being under power really helps with control. That's the most effective trick I've come up with, besides finding a nice windblock to draft behind/beside.

How windy was it? I'll be honest that there are some days that are just too windy to safely ride. Beyond that, I pick my routes carefully. I'd rather avoid crosswinds. Unfortunately, the fact that you don't have drop bars limits your ability to get more aero, but you might try some bar ends; that might allow you to "get down" a bit more. Riding with others is also helpful. Drafting can, in the very, help spread out the work.
Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Continue to learn. Appreciate your friends. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.
