Fredwina,
I like your Bacchetta Giro. The red paint is really an eye catcher ... very nice. I've got a Giro, too. Mine is green and has the recurve seat. It's a fun ride, isn't it?

The bike station is beautiful, and so is the 'bent.
I made a trip clear across town, and another trip halfway across town, so I actually got 20 miles in today, which was nice. Traffic was very kind. I started wondering if I'm going to miss cycling in traffic when we move to Kirksville, 1/5th the size of Columbia. I decided probably not.

I took the streets . there's a couple place on the trail where I Have troubles getting a light. Had a few close, but I felt better not running a light. Plus, it does have graffiti problems(gangs)
About 20 minutes later, good to know, since i don't always catch the same train going back (no way to predict it in the am either)
Claremont is one of my favorite place. You have to love the "city of Trees and Phds"
A bike station? That's the coolest invention EVER!!![]()

kmehrzad - the Giro is quite a sweet bike. Not quite as speedy as my Strada, but it can do a lot more.
TriGirl - Pretty neat, but for $15/month..The only thing is that they could have a "private room" for chnaging, but it well lit to discourage theives
maybe I should have gotten those fenders.
I did actually remember my watch, jewlery, and a book to read, unlike yesterday. and I got an earlier train than I what I usually take (more available seats).
The bad news. The weather forecast was for clouds all - now there's 50% of that four letter word that starts with an "R"(
At least it's not the 4 letter word that starts with an "S" - that's what we're looking at. But I suppose that would be rare in your part of the world.
So - is the bike station privately owned or part of transit or what? Do you lock your bike to the rack? Just curious![]()
I haven't figured out a goo way to commute yet. It's 32 miles each way - there is a bus that I could bike to, but there are no showers (and I cannot not shower). Plus, I'd have to leave my bike in an icky place (or put it on the front of a bus). Not good options. Wish we had bike lockers![]()
Most days in life don't stand out, But life's about those days that will...
Snow not that rare here - it just helps to have 8,000 feet of elavation
Bike station is a public/private partenship - the company behind it is Mobis Transportation, but they do need local Govt. approval (hey, that sounds like my line of business) Here the cities own and operate the Metrolink(Train service) stations
I usually bring along a baby wipe and change in a train car bathroom, That still does not address your storage issue
Do you think pea-greean panniers will go with my bike? maybe I should get the Detours Toocan Juicys instead(who said this saves money?)

It's been a long time since my bike commute saved me any moneyAt least in winter. Unless I factor in, say, playing tennis as an alternative way of keeping fit.
This was my commute today![]()
The sun was so blissfully allovertheplace on my way home that I just had to do a detour up a hill with a pretty view. The road was pretty packed with snow near the top so I had to concentrate to stay upright, but no traffic apart from two careful and considerate sightseers. There's a restaurant up there with a glorious view over Oslo, in summer I do hill repeats up here, today I was happy to just sit.
there is just nothing like the first days of real, bright sun after a long dark winter!
Winter riding is much less about badassery and much more about bundle-uppery. - malkin

Very pretty, lph. Today was my first commuter in what seemed like forever. I haven't commuted because I haven't been at work in over a week. It was great to be back on the roads - even if I was heading to work. There is so much less snow than the last time I commuted so it was nice because the bike lane coming home was completely clear.
OK- I'm going to be a big ol' baby here. I've been commuting pretty faithfully this winter, but I've decided I'm tired of cold so I'm not going to commute any longer until the morning temp is at least 40. I always get weenie towards the end of winter, but this year I've just had it.
It takes me as long to get dressed as it takes to actually ride to work. I can't wait for it to warm up so I can ride to work in what I'll be working in.![]()

I have switched to a running commute for now because I can run enough time to count for a little more exercise and I actually like it.
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

I did a bike commute today. I knew that there was some wet weather coming in the evening but the weather reports were saying it would start after dark. Nope. It was a wet, cold ride home.
