    back on bike

    Hi all,

    Besides going back to work on Monday after 10 weeks recovering from my shoulder fracture I also rode my mtn bike on the road last Sunday. We did not set out with any destination in mind, just take it as it came. Well, I guess my weeks on the exercise bike to my mtn bike on the trainer to presently my road bike on the trainer paid off. I felt strong and we ended upt riding 17.5 miles and my speed was between 14-16 mph. If anyone is familiar with Long Island, we rode from my house to Cedar Creek Park and took the path to Jones Beach and back.

    Now if we catch another nice day I will head out on my road bike. I think it will be more comfortable and to be honest I never realized that the brakes on my mtn bike stop quicker because everytime I stopped I would get a jerk in my shoulder. My shoulder was stiff by then end of the ride but I know that will get better in time.

    I really don't mind riding on my trainer. I feel so safe, but I also know I have to get it back on the road. I would like to ride on my birthday coming up this Sunday. But the weather will decide exactly what we will do.

    Going back to work was another adjustment although everyone was really nice and I did not find mounds of work on my desk. They took care of everything. But I also did not get a chance to read the boards so I will do that now.

    That's wonderful! I'm so glad to hear that you're back on your (untethered) bike again, and enjoying riding.

    <happy applause>

    Way to go, Jo! Now treat that tender shoulder with some TLC (and ice, of course), then go out and do it all again! Nice work on your first ride out again, and great speeds! Yahoo!!

    Namaste,

    As always, thank you all for your kind words. Yep, it did feel wonderful.

    Oh and Teresa, you bet, ice never felt so good. Even after my pt session, my eyes just light up when they bring that ice. lol
