Red face New to the forum-intro

Hello everyone. I've been lurking for a while and decided it was time to post an intro. I'm in MA-about 30 miles south of Boston-and returned to cycling last year after being a casual rider over the years.

After a few months on the comfort bikes my DBF and I bought, it became clear that cycling was going to be a favorite activity.

I bought a 2009 Specialized Dolce Elite last Fall and recently purchased a Jamis Coda Sport hybrid for 'in-between' rides when a road bike might not be the best choice for the terrain or locale. (A co-worker bought the comfort bike from me last week, so hopefully it will inspire her as it did me.)

Looking forward to meeting other cycling enthusiasts here and exchanging experiences and ideas.

No, but there was a bit of grumbling...he was concerned I would now leave him in the dust with these speedier 'steeds' when we ride together. <LOL>

However, I ride alone most of the time and figure that is a good time to go at my preferred pace. We do enjoy riding along the Cape Cod Canal together...a round trip distance of about 14 miles.

Welcome! I am new to the group too but I have found that this place is like a home away from home. Welcome back to cycling too!

Welcome! I live in Southern RI and ride often with Narragansett Bay Wheelmen's Association, a club that does a LOT of Massachusetts rides.
I can do five more miles.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome! (For some reason I'm not getting all the notifications of new messages. )

I'm not part of a cycling club due to other interests that keep me from committing to club activities in general, but welcome recommendations of local paths/routes where I would feel fairly safe. I live in a small town that fits the bill for the most part, but it's nice to have other spots to drive to. As an early bird, my best rides tend to be first thing in the morning.

I'd also like to get a handle on some basic bike repair techniques as time goes by: changing tires, adjusting brakes, etc.
